The PO9 Standard Roadmap

This is the roadmap for the standard — the direction of the .po9-skin format itself, not a changelog of app features. If your organization is adopting PO9, this is what you’re really betting on: where the format goes over the next few years, and the promise that it gets there without breaking what you build today.

  1. Current — v1 Stable

The stable core: manifest, theme tokens, asset rules, and packaging. Everything you need to build, validate, and ship a skin today.

  2. Next — v1.1 Additive

Animation tokens (animation.*). Purely additive — every v1 skin stays valid, no migration required.

  3. Later — v2 Major

Plugin extension points — controlled surfaces for extending a skin beyond static tokens. A major version, so it ships a migrator and keeps the compatibility promise.

  4. Future Exploring

Enterprise policy — signed skins and org-level allowlists, so companies can govern exactly which skins run. See Enterprise.
